Big Tree Boating 25th Anniversary
Islesboro, ME
Big Tree Boating is a small community-run sailing program in Islesboro, ME with a mission to teach proper seamanship, respect for the water and a lifelong love of sailing.
As the organization turned 25, Merry Alderman Design spear-headed a summer-long fundraising campaign to raise $200,000 to seed an endowment fund for the organization, enabling Big Tree to keep fees low, purchase a fleet of new boats and continue to bring the joy of sailing to the next generation.

The Creative Process
Big Tree Boating has an all-volunteer board of directors who were a bit daunted by the idea of a major fundraising event, but knew the 25th anniversary was a moment to be seized. Merry Alderman Design offered our services pro-bono to create a visual identity and a suite of branded materials for the summer-long campaign that culminated in a large event with a live auction.
Building support
We started with a logo (above) and an invitation (below) that went to every member of the Islesboro community by mial. However, Big Tree Boating’s members most often interact with BTB online and on social media (when they aren’t on the water), so we created a branded campaign to promote the event and the auction items through out the summer season.
